Prescribing policy
How we prescribe
We write it down so you can read it before you come in.
After an evaluation
A prescriber recommends medication after an evaluation, never before. You decide with them, and you can say no or ask for more time.
Controlled medications
Our policy is that controlled medications are decided in person, after an evaluation, under Colorado and federal law. We do not prescribe controlled medication at a visit by video.
Refills
Refills are handled at follow-up visits. Please ask a week before you run out. We do not refill a medication for someone we have not seen.
Labs and pharmacy
Some medications need blood work. Your prescriber explains why and sends the order to a lab near you. Prescriptions go to the pharmacy you choose.
Changes
Your prescriber explains each change, what to watch for and when to call us, before the change is made.
What we do not do
We do not prescribe on the strength of a message, a questionnaire or a call alone, and we do not prescribe for someone we have not evaluated.
Questions about this policy?
Call the office during hours, or ask your prescriber at a visit.
